well, i am pretty sure this is the longest i have gone without posting. it's been some of the busiest weeks of my time here, but some of the best. the lack of posting is a clear indicator of how little time i've had the past few weeks. the acts group was here for the past 7 weeks and that kept my schedule packed. it was really neat to watch how God used them here... how he taught them about the culture and his love for the people here, how he changed their lives..and mine.
today marks one month before i leave. i hate to sound somber and really pensive, but i really have a lot to think about before i leave. all of my friends here are starting to feel the reality of me leaving soon. and so am i. the conversations are more real. every goodbye hurts. even if i know i will see them again, i don't want to let them go. part of it is the strong desire i have for them to really know the love of Jesus. having invested months in them and knowing they still don't know kills me. i really do trust that God will continue to work in their lives, but i just feel like part of my heart is being ripped away as i say goodbyes.
my relationships here are different. people are flaky, distant, and confusing. but at the same time, they are affectionate, loving, and real. friendships take years to really, really develop trust. i sometimes feel like i am just now scratching the surface of reaching their hearts. after 21 months...
i have so much to look forward to when i get back, but so so so much i am leaving behind. but i completely trust that God is closing this door here and opening up more in Memphis. it's just a lot to think and pray about for the next few weeks. pray with me that i'll have good goodbyes, that i'll take every opportunity to speak Truth into the lives of my friends, and that i will trust Him to take over where i'm leaving off.
