pharmaceutical charades.

i have some sort of cold so i stayed in and rested most of the day... when i did finally decide to get out of the house, i was surprisingly productive in a short amount of time. in less than an hour, i walked to the bank, deposited rent money, dropped off photos to develop, went by an ATM, filled my akbil for transportation, got phone credit, went by the pharmacy (& played charades, see below for more), & went to the grocery store. i also came home and cooked but then immediately returned to be reclusive in my room for the night....

so the pharmacy is always interesting. and humorous... besides the fact that i have been out of turkey for basically 6 weeks and haven't studied as much as usual and haven't spoken turkish much at all, i still on a good day barely know how to explain what i need at a pharmacy. it's just not grammar i use very often since i have only been to a pharmacy maybe 3 or 4 times since i got here a year ago....

so this is how my trip went... i walked in and was greeted by who i am assuming is a pharmacy tech, who i asked if she spoke English. she said no but the pharmacist does... when he got off of the phone, he said he did not know english much and proceeded in english... so we continued to play a little game of charades until he told me i had the flu. i said, no i do not! and he said, you have a stuffy nose, runny nose, sore throat, you're tired, and you are sore. you have the flu. i said, no i don't think i do, what medicine can i take? so he gave me some turkish cold & flu medicine.... at least i could understand even if i couldn't remember the words for runny nose or stuffy nose.... ha...

and i pray to G i DO NOT have the flu. i'm sure it's just because of the weather and from going nonstop the past few weeks.... tends to happen... i'll live. or i'll return to the pharmacy for anothe fun game of charades...
